不過怎麼覺得有 Chrome 的味道在？！

更新後，1password 無法使用了，
嘗試過進去 1password 的 Preference 中的 Browsers 重新 install 也無效。

Chrome? 怕了...

Google Chrome was launched on September 2, 2008 it was called a "beautiful new web browser that computer users can download with a click for more stability navigating rich media on the web. " But if you read the fine print of the user agreement, you'll note that Google has a lot more power over your personal browsing than you might think. The sentences in " " are word for word straight out of the user agreement.

1. Google reserves the right to automatically update and install Chrome.
This is becoming standard fare with much software these days, but worth noting.


"The software which you use may automatically download and install

updates from time to time from Google. These updates are designed to

improve, enhance and further develop the services and may take the

form of bug fixes, enhanced functions, new software modules and

completely new versions. You agree to receive such updates (and permit

Google to deliver these to you) as part of your use of the services."




2. Although you retain any copyrights to content you own and use in the browser, Google says it has a right to display any of your content, to anyone, for anything, in conjunction with promoting its services. Here's their exact wording.


"By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a

perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license

to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly

display and distribute any content which you submit, post or display on or

through, the services. This license is for the sole purpose of enabling

Google to display, distribute and promote the services and may be revoked

for certain services as defined in the additional terms of those services."



Key Sentence here that should throw up a red flag: "any content which you submit, post or display on or through, the service."



3. Don't be surprised to see more ads.
Traditionally, it is Web pages and not the browser itself that serves ads. Google isn't saying it will change this paradigm, but its terms of service don't rule that out either.


"Some of the services are supported by advertising revenue and may

display advertisements and promotions. These advertisements may be

targeted to the content of information stored on the services, queries

made through the services or other information.The manner, mode and

extent of advertising by Google on the services are subject to change

without specific notice to you."


Key Sentence: "subject to change without specific notice to you"

Now all this is fascinating because with one swift move Google has achieved what cable internet service providers have had to battle privacy advocates and congressional hearings over for years: Google can watch your every move on the internet.


Cable companies have been beaten up over this issue; the fear was that allowing an ISP to track online behavior at the "box" level -- so-called deep-packet inspection of ALL the traffic flowing into the internet -- would be too serious an invasion of one's privacy. To date, online companies such as Google or Microsoft could only track you when you enter their subset of internet services.


But not any more. Google has achieved total vision. Combine the Chrome browser with the upcoming Android mobile phone software, or even implement it into spying on your IPhone, And Google can connect your web use to your mobile movements. It could even conceivably do what comScore does now with volunteer research panels.
