Enter text on your iPhone in a new, fast and fun way! ShapeWriter is a revolutionary text input technology that frees you from the constraints and frustrations of a conventional method. Instead of tapping one letter at a time, you simply slide your finger from letter to letter on the keyboard and lift to complete an entire word. ShapeWriter's intelligent algorithms can turn the single gesture stroke into your intended word. For example, a stroke from F to U then to N on the keyboard will be recognized as the word "fun". Ignore repeat letters. ShapeWriter is error tolerant and offers additional words that also approximately match your stroke. For rare names and acronyms, type only once and you will be able to shape write the next time.

At first, you may feel hindered by your finger obscuring the keyboard while shape writing. You will overcome this uncertainty very quickly. With practice, you will also begin to remember the stroke shape of common words giving you increasingly faster speed.

ShapeWriter on the iPhone is currently a standalone note-taking application (formerly known as WritingPad). Your notes written with ShapeWriter can be sent as email. You can also reply to an email message by hitting reply in the Mail program, opening ShapeWriter to compose your text and finally pressing the email button in ShapeWriter to insert the text into your reply message.

You can now shape write in landscape mode with a larger keyboard. Simply tilt the device will switch to landscape mode. Pressing the 'Menu' key on the ShapeWriter keyboard will give you the option of locking the keyboard orientation for that session.

You can now select text by dragging your finger across the text to highlight it. Selected text can then be cut, copied or pasted using a ShapeWriter command stroke. For example, to copy selected text, trace from the command key (Cmd) to 'c', 'o', 'p' and then 'y' (or trace only part of the stroke such as Cmd-c-o). The cut command is Cmd-'cut', the paste command is Cmd-'paste'. Note that cut, copy and paste commands only work within the ShapeWriter application. You can select an entire word by double-tapping that word You can select all the text on the screen with Cmd-'all'.
