Nest Egg makes it fun and easy to play “what if” games with different scenarios. Based on your scenario, it calculates the required savings and breaks that down to annual deposits. All parameters are entered with slide bars. These slide bars makes it easy to adjust your assumptions and then quickly see how these assumptions impact your retirement scenario.

Unlike other tools, this application has a sophisticated algorithm which incorporates a number of user assumptions. All 8 of the following assumptions should be considered in your plan and Nest Egg is the only tool that allows you to tinker with all of them. Nest Egg will calculate your retirement plan based on the following retirement user entered assumptions.


(Nest Egg Screen):
1. Desired Annual Retirement Income
2. Average Yearly Inflation Rate
3. Investment Return after Retirement
4. Estimated Years of Retirement

…and the following assumptions associated with your earning years.

(Deposit Screen):
1. Starting Balance
2. Year over Year Deposit Increase
3. Investment Return before Retirement
4. Years Until Retirement Begins

This retirement calculator derives the amount of money you will need to have saved by the time you retire. It will also calculate a table of annual deposits during your earning years and a table of annual withdrawals during your retirement years.

Additionally, there is an option to Adjust Forward for Inflation. This option allows you plan, using today’s dollars and the Nest Egg will adjust today’s dollars for inflation, allowing you to see how today’s dollars equate to future retirement dollars. Accounting for inflation is vital to your retirement planning and this program makes it easy.

This application remembers the parameters from the last time it was accessed, so you can start each session from where you left off last time. If you want to start over with the default values, simply click on the reset button.

There is a very detailed built in help page, but you will quickly find this calculator is very intuitive and easy to use.

Compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch. The button sounds can only be heard through earphones for iPod Touch devices.
