Resonizer, like its predecessor, SFSsynth is driven by ambient sound from the iPhone’s microphone. Using a more compute-intensive spectral technique that continuously analyzes the audio signal, Resonizer better follows musical content with much lower latency than SFSsynth. Because of the limited processing power of the iPhone, instead of SFSsynth’s FM synthesizer, Resonizer applies simple mathematic functions to sine waves to generate complex sounds. The result is a different kind of sonic experience.

Resonizer uses the accelerometer to control key sound parameters. The modulation frequency is changed by tilting the iPhone forward and backward. The time constant (attack/decay) is varied by rotating the device left or right. Two presets are provided to store and recall the values of these parameters.

Resonizer is a great voice-driven sound effects generator. Or try it with acoustic instruments, even drums.
