"Visual Acuity" is the first mobile tool on the iPhone platform dedicated to the measurement of visual acuity using a computerized method. Rather than presenting a static image of a Snellen wall-chart, "Visual Acuity" uses optotypes, known as Landold C and Tumbling E, presented at decreasing size until the user cannot reliably see the orientation of the C or E symbols. This adaptive procedure computes an acuity score similar to the tests performed in clinical environment.

Acuity scores can be presented either in foot (20/*), meter (6/*), decimal or logMAR units. Tests history stores the acuity scores as function of the test condition (left, right or both eyes, C or E optotypes, corrected or uncorrected).
