Description:

Calculates the great circle distance between two points on Earth specified by latitude and longitude with the final distance calculated in miles. Coordinates are specified in decimal degrees with latitudes ranging from -90 to 90 degrees and longitudes ranging from -180 to 180 degrees.

Uses a special case of the Vincenty formula to arrive at an approximation at the distance between two points on Earth. This formula assumes that the Earth is a perfect sphere so calculations are approximate.
