Did you know that the iPhone and iPod Touch have a proximity sensor? It was engineered into the design to allow the display (screen) to be turned off when the screen is close to your face – thus saving battery life. We realized that the proximity sensor is actually an infrared sensor and it could be used to read the heat signatures of a person’s face with incredible accuracy. We have written an unbelievable program that scans your face, analyzes the data, and displays what you will look like 10 years into the future. It ages you! All you need to do is stare straight into the screen and hold as still as possible for an accurate scan. As the scan progresses you will see your face appearing which will then be aged using complex algorithms.

Are you convinced? Actually, this is a fantastic prank but your friends will totally fall for it because people have come to expect this kind of stuff from an iPhone.

It works like this: Your unlucky subject will look intently into a totally black screen as a neon green scan bar moves up and down the screen. Little by little with every pass of the scan bar, they begin to see a face image appear. At first they are skeptical, but as this image begins appearing they are convinced that this iPhone/iPod is doing yet another incredible task. They continue to look intently into your screen anxiously waiting the results and WHAMMO, they are hit with an insanely funny default picture of an old man / old woman – or any picture you provide, accompanied with a fun laugh. You and iScanU will be the life of the party.

But aging is not the only use for iScanU. You can use your imagination and display any picture you want as the final image: A beautiful young lady or man, an cute or ugly animal, what famous star do you most resemble, scan your wife or husband then display your wife’s mother / husband’s father, show your kids they will look like you, or scan your friend and display someone they dislike as the final image. You can also ask any yes or no question and use the default positive / yes or negative / no answer: catch someone in a lie and use this detector to display yes or no or a picture of Pinocchio, it’s a meter for love, hot or not detector, biorhythms, etc, etc. The gags are unlimited because iScanU lets you select images from your iPhoto library or take your own picture for the final gag or answer any yes or no question. TIP – use Mobile Safari and navigate to any picture on the web, use normal gestures to zoom and center the picture then HOLD YOUR POWER BUTTON AND HIT THE HOME BUTTON. This will take a picture of your current screen and place it on your camera roll. Now you can use that picture in iScanU for your next clever prank.
