Description:

This application converts the current Gregorian calendar to the Jalali calendar, which is the calendar used in Persia/Iran and Afghanistan.

The current official Iranian calendar was adopted on 15 March 1079 by the Seljuk Sultan Jalal al-Din Malik Shah and is based on the recommendations of a committee of astronomers, including Omar Khayyam, at the imperial observatory in his capital city of Isfahan. It begins on the vernal equinox, which usually begins within a day of 21 March of the Gregorian calendar. This makes it a more accurate calendar than the Gregorian calendar.

Iranian calendar is one of the longest chronological records in human history, but it has been modified time and again during its history to suit administrative, climatic, and religious purposes.

The Jalali calendar has been used in Iran since 1925 and in Afghanistan since 1957.
