Description:

Satellites is an iPhone/iTouch application that displays the positions of the International Space Station (ISS) as it orbits our planet. The data used is downloaded frequently from up-to-date NORAD sources so it is as current as it can be. The algorithms used for the orbit predictions are also current, being revisions of the NORAD three-line element SGP software republished in 2006.

The application shows the location of the ISS (dot near the middle), the 'footprint' within which the ISS is above the horizon (dotted circle), and a 5 minutes of the past and 90 minutes of the future track of the orbit over the Earth (line of dots).

The application will mark the location of the phone on the earth. The globe of the earth can be rotated and zoomed by touches and pinches to get a detailed view of, for example, when ISS passes near the observer.

Time can be "speeded up" to see where the ISS will be at times in the not-too-distant future (the predictive data and algorithms do not claim high accuracy after a few days).
