A true satellite compass making use of the compass feature of the newly released iPhone 3GS.

Just turn it on and it will tell you what satellite you are facing. Simple as that.

Pointing your dish was already easy with DishPointer.com but now it got even easier with this app. Just rotate your iPhone and rather than obtaining compass bearings you will get the satellite position names, e.g. 110W for 110° West DirectTV, 91W for 91° West Nimiq 1, or 13E for 13° East Hotbird, etc...

Just note that this app fully relies on the inbuilt compass of the iPhone whose accuracy can be affected by magnetic or other environmental interferences (don't hold it too close to the dish). Sometimes you will need to re-calibrate the iPhone compass before using this app.
