Hi guys this is Sam
I am sorry that i cant type in chinese now cuz i am actually at school now
I am an international student at New York, where the Yankees are =D
All right, let me get back to the subject
as you can see from the title, i need some help from you iPhone experts
Here we go,
I just bought one unlocked (or JB) iPhone 3Gs, 16GB
the version is 3.1, and i want to upgrade it to 3.1.2
well, what should i do with it?
should i use iTunes and upgrade it to 3.1.2 first?
if i did so, my iPhone should get locked by Apple
therefore, i havent done anything yet.
So...can someone plz tell me waht i should do with it?
I really appreciate it

You need to do blackra1n(jailbreak) and blacksn0w(unlock your iPhone), but you have to update your iPhone OS to 3.1.2 via iTunes first.
Otherwise, you should read other relevant articles from this forum, that will be very useful for you

if you haven't upgraded to 3.12 from itune..i suggest that you can google.and find the custom firmware for 3.12 that won't upgrade your baseband. you see whap happen is the newer iphone now has a baseband of 5XXX which is causing jb major problem. with custom firmware you can remain at 4.26. so later on if you want to unlock it will be alot easier.

Unlock is one thing, jailbreak is another. You must know their difference then you can choose what you have to do.
Check your model number (Settings -> General -> About -> Model) then compare with others(Ex: search in Google) first. If your iPhone is US version and you are not an AT&T user, your iPhone can't be used after you upgrade to 3.1.2.
If it is comes from the country sell the unlock version(Ex: Hong kong, Taiwan, ...). Don't worry, you can upgrade it.
If not, then you have many homework to do. I think you can check the model fist then let's try to find the way out.
