Reviews

Education Apps Review, www.iear.org:

"This app is fantastic!!

My third graders loved learning with this app! It has infinite enriching and differentiating possibilities, as the students can select easier or more challenging types of problems."

PragmaticMom, www.pragmaticmom.com:

"Be still my beating heart! My 5th Grader is learning long division and sometimes working through the problems step by step is confusing to her. So you can imagine how excited I AM with this app, named Long Division, that translates long division into a color coordinated step by step process and has a number key pad so that the student can input their numbers every step of the way. Then, the numbers slide from the problem, into their proper place in the problem. Very visual and memorable!"

Fun Educational Apps, www.funeducationalapps.com:

"Together with my son, we started to practice Long Division, a great easy to use educational math app. At first he was a bit reluctant but I must admit that presenting long division on his iPod made it right away more appealing and entertaining. He started to like it and stopped daunting the division problems. Quite quickly, we started to see some improvements. His level of confidence increased and soon he was mastering long divisions."

Giggle Apps, www.giggleapps.com:

"Long division is difficult for some students and I like this app because it makes the experience very simple."

AppReviewLive, www.appreviewlive.com:

"It’s almost like having a teacher in the palm of your hand.."

Customer review form the US iTunes App Store:

“Beautiful, brilliant, intuitive. Walks user gently step-by-step through long division. Taught my son what his teachers were unable to do. We are so grateful!”

The Long Division Method

In arithmetic, long division is the standard procedure suitable for dividing numbers. The method breaks down a division problem into a series of easier steps.

Easy to Use

The Long Division app allows the user to solve a long division problem step by step and animates all the steps. In the steps the user will divide, multiply or subtract. The correct answer will fly to the right place. If the user presses the wrong button the answer will appear above the keyboard but it will not move.

The App has the Following Settings:

- The dividend can have up to 5 digits
- The divisor can have 1 or 2 digits
- Remainders can be allowed or disallowed
- The dividend can have decimals
- The current operation for each step can be hidden
- The operands for the current operation can be highlighted
- There are 3 different themes: black, white and gold
- The speed of the animations can be set
- Numbers to divide can be generated randomly or entered manually

Feedback and Requests for New Features

Please give feedback here at iTunes or visit my site idevbooks.com and give feedback directly to me about this program. I keep updating all of my apps and all kinds of feedback and suggestions are welcome.

My other apps

My other mathematics apps include Fraction Math, Long Multiplication, Column Addition, Column Subtraction, Lattice Multiplication and several other math apps.

What's New

The app now supports Fast App Switching in iOS 4.

When dividing decimal numbers the app will now add zeros if needed. When dividing 1.0 by 20 the app will now give the result 0.05. When dividing 1.0 by 80 the result will be 1.0125. Previously the user sometimes had to know in advance how many decimal places to use.

This change was inspired by a user review. If you would like to see a new feature, please contact me or write a review at iTunes.
