As Assistant Editor of Pro Wrestling Torch, Powell reported on major stories such as the rise and fall of ECW, the Monday Night War era of the late-'90s, and the WWF buyout of WCW. He consistently broke major stories and was in frequent contact with sources within the wrestling industry. He conducted Torch interviews with top names in the industry including ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky, Dusty Rhodes, Lance Storm, Dallas Page, Konnan, Mike Awesome, Jimmy Hart, Lenny Lane, Mortimer Plumtree, Jim Kettner, Les Thatcher, Bill Behrens, and Vic Grimes, among others.
