Icon Memos is a free application for writing short memos. The memos are arranged as icons in a layout similar to the iPhone home screen, with the added ability to create folders and subfolders for a high degree of organization. We call this the Iconic Hierarchical Filesystem. You can drag icons around to rearrange them or put them on separate pages, just like in the original home screen, or drop them in a folder (or drop them back out in the parent folder).

Icon Memos doesn't have many features, but hey - it's FREE! If you want more features, check out our inexpensive note-writing application named Iconic Notes. It has an incredible range of useful features including the ability to import notes over the network, email notes, write in landscape mode, change text fonts, font sizes, text and background colors, restrict access to private folders, and add new icons from your photo library. We'll also be adding more new and exciting features.

Short instructions for use:

1. In the Home Screen (the opening screen of the app) you organize your memos and folders. Tap a memo icon to open the memo and write stuff.

2. To rename an icon (memo or folder), press "Edit" in the home screen and tap the icon title. Or, for memos tap the title of the memo at the top of the screen while editing the memo, and for folders, tap the title of the folder at the top of the screen in the home screen.

3. The info button on the bottom-right of the Home Screen takes you to the icon library where you can choose from one of 4 provided folder icons or 8 memo icons.

4. The default icon for a new "Quick memo" (created using the button on the bottom-left corner of the home screen) can be changed - press "Edit", then press down the icon that you want to set as the new default icon and hold it for one second, and you'll get a message that the new default icon has been set. Also folder colors can be changed (when changing a folder color you also set the new default color for a new "Quick folder") in the renaming panel that appears when you tap the folder icon title while in editing mode.
