Let's get this straight: FlashBeat has nothing to do with a Jennifer Beals movie. Think of it as a visual metronome. In addition to the ability to hear the tempo, you'll see it as the entire screen flashes with the beat. So......Flash....Beat.

But why would you want such a thing?

Let's say you're in a situation where you want a metronome, but you can't hear the darn thing once you've started playing (like in a bagpipe band or a wicked loud rock band).

Put your FlashBeat somewhere where you can all see it, and bingo! You're on the same beat, because the entire screen is flashing the tempo (see, there's that logical name thing again).

Or you're laying down a track and don't want the "tick-tock" sound in your recording. FlashBeat to the rescue.

Originally developed for bagpipe bands, this application is sure to be of value to musicians of all types. And though the full-screen tempo reminder is the primary feature, you can choose to have the traditional sounds accompany the flashing.

There are more features already in the works, like being able to change what color the tempo flashes in, being able to save (and name) your most-used settings, and supporting more time signatures.
