Citysense is a real-time nightlife application that shows you where the action is, right now.

Based on billions of points of GPS and WiFi positioning data from the last few years – plus real-time data feeds from taxicab companies and cell phones – Citysense sees what's going on in the city from above.

FEATURES:

- "I wonder if anyone is out tonight?"  See if it's a good night to go out. The city is 28% busier than normal for a Tuesday at 10:18pm? Let's go.

- "What's at hotspot #1?"  Use Yelp or Google find out what's going on at the top hotspot. Then check out what's at #2. It's fast.

- "I just walked out of a bar. Where's everyone going next from here?"  Citysense will locate you and tell you the top three destinations from where you are standing right now.

- "I'm a local and I already know the city, what's in it for me?"  Citysense can show you only the places that have unusually high activity right now. That's hard to know, even for a local.

- "What happened last night?"  Time Slider allows you to view the past 24 hours of hotspots and watch a high-speed animation of the city's activity.

How does Citysense work?

Citysense is an application that operates on Sense Networks' Macrosense platform, an analytics system that analyzes massive amounts of aggregate, anonymous location data in real-time. Macrosense is already used by business people for things like selecting store locations and understanding retail demand. But we asked ourselves: with all this real-time data, what else could we do for a city? Nightlife enhancement was the obvious answer. We're interested in your feedback. Citysense is only released for San Francisco right now, but you can run it on any phone anywhere and see the city in real-time.
