Founded less than a week before the tragedy at Pearl Harbor in 1941, the Civil Air Patrol is a Congressionally chartered, federally supported, non-profit corporation that serves as the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force. CAP members come from all walks of life to support their community by performing three missions for America: Aerospace Education, Cadet Programs, and Emergency Services. CAP currently performs between 90-95% of all inland search and rescue operations within the United States.
