This initial version has a bug that causes a crash when someone logs out when you are viewing a profile page. As a workaround until the update next week, go back to the user list before switching back to the chat page. There are also a few other minor tweaks coming. Also, 1st gen iPod touch users have reported performance issues that I am looking into.

Idle Chat is a unique location based chat application. Our server places you in a zone with other nearby users, where you can see their approximate location on the included zoomable map, along with your own location. User list and detail pages let you discover new information on who is online.

Unlike other location based services, there is no need for your friends to participate - simply log on and chat with whoever happens to be online at the time.
