Object of the Game

Nuclear War - Tactical Defense is a one player strategy game. The object of the game is to destroy your opponents before they destroy you. Each of the computer players will fire on each other as well as you.

Summary View

The summary view contains four scroll panels with detailed information about what has happened to each player during the last turn. This information can be useful when making decisions about who to attack and what to build.

Command View

Use the city buttons to view information about each of your five cities. Current Production, Population, Population Change, Bio Contamination and Defenses are viewable.

When Defenses are built, it will be indicated by a green check. Each defense can to used to block incoming missiles but will be destroyed at that time.
Biological : Blocks Bio Missile
Blast Wall : Blocks 75% of missile damage.
Missile Defense : Blocks 50% of missile damage.

When a city is hit by a Bio Missile that missile will do damage for three consecutive turns. That is indicated by the Bio Contaminated symbol.

Production View

Each city is capable of building one item at a time. After selecting the city button, select the weapon or defense you want to build in the list and click build. You may cancel a build by clicking the cancel button.

Each weapon takes a different number of turns to be completed. As the game progresses the Current Production area will show you how many turns are left until completion.

Weapons View

This window is used to launch weapons against your opponents’ cities. The number of weapons available of each type is shown. Click the Deploy button to load one of your two missile launchers. Choose the opponent and city you want to attack. To cancel the launch, click the “X”.

Enemy View

This view will show you the population and population change of each of your opponents’ cities. In “Hard” mode your opponent‘s status will not be revealed at the beginning. As you attack an opponent’s city the status will be revealed from that point forward. Also, when a city is destroyed, it will be revealed at that time.

End Turn

When you have completed all your actions, return to the Command View and click the End Turn button. The game will process each players actions and report events in the Summary View. Also, the current game will be saved at this time. If needed, you may exit the application without losing data. When the application is restarted, hit the continue button to pick the game up where you left off.
