PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

AlphaBravo has a practice mode that allows you to perfect your knowledge of the names and proper nouns that military and transport agencies use worldwide to make communication easier. Simply tap the screen and AlphaBravo will display a letter at random together with its associated code word.

You also have the option of a Preferences screen, that lets you select the letters that you would like displayed.


ABOUT THE NATO ALPHABET

Radio and telephone communication is often plagued by interference. In order to ensure the intelligibility of voice signals over radio links, the NATO alphabet, also known as the international radio telephony spelling alphabet, assigns code words to the letters of the alphabet (Alfa for A, Bravo for B, etc.).

The use of this alphabet ensures that combinations of letters can be pronounced and understood by any and all who transmit or receive voice messages. To avoid multiple variations in practice, the NATO alphabet has also been adopted by organizations such as the International Civil Aviation Organization and the International Telecommunication Union.
