The Mammut Safety App features a clinometer: Hold the long edge of your iPhone / iPod parallel to the slope and read an estimation of its angle off the screen. Furthermore the application includes a GPS-based altimeter and a link to all the avalanche bulletins worldwide.

Important: The clinometer can help you with, but cannot replace a proper risk assessment! Beside the steepest slope angle, other relevant factors have to be taken into consideration:

- What is the current danger level?
- What is the slope exposition?
- Is all the emergency equipment (transceiver, probe and shovel) available and ready?
- What is the weather forecast?
- How large is the group and what are the individual skill levels?
