Take a break from the standard baby name books. Introducing Fresh Names: Baby, a brand new iPhone app that lets you generate all new, never before seen, completely original baby names. Take the best parts of the most popular names, mix them up and see what you get!

My wife and I loved some of the names on the top 100 baby name list. The problem was that we couldn't decide on one that we both liked. We decided to take the best parts of all the names on the list and mix them together to create all new names. The result is a really fun, unique name generator that will inspire you and surprise you!

How does it work?

When you launch Fresh Names: Baby it will ask you to enter your last name. From then on, you simply press the ‘Fresh Name’ button to generate brand new first and middle names. If you’ve already decided on a first or middle name, you can type it in and lock it by tapping the lock icon to the right.

At any time you can adjust the spelling of the auto-generated names. You can also swap the first and middle names by simply tapping the swap button to the left.

Once you find a name you’re interested in, tap the search button to search for the name on the internet. You can also email the names to a spouse or friend. At the bottom, of the screen, you’ll see a couple of phrases that you can use to try the name out loud.

What kinds of names does it generate?

The names generated by Fresh Names: Baby are completely random. There is no built in logic for constructing the names, which is what makes them so unique. A side effect of the randomness is that the names will vary from silly and difficult to pronounce to strong, elegant and inspiring.

After you’ve used the app for a while, I think it will elicit one of two reactions in you:

1. The names will make you realize just how much you like the standard names from the other baby name apps and books.


2. The names will inspire you with their originality and uniqueness in a way that no other baby naming utility can.
You win either way, and you’ll have had a lot of fun in the process!
